Setapart 07

Setapart 07 was the International Youth Convention of the Wesleyan Church. Every four years our denomination will host this convention. This year it was held in Orlando, Florida. Brian was in charge of registration at one of the three hotels housing the teens, Rosen Shingle Creek. This required a lot of computer time before the actual convention began along with being "on duty" for a couple days during the convention. We enjoyed our responsibilities for the registration process but missed getting to spend more time with our teens that attended the conference. We are thankful for our GREAT youth sponsors that took over when we couldn't be there!

The teens enjoyed the rallies and seminars. I know some of the teens did make the commitment to live holy lives...set apart from the things the world has to offer!! These conventions are so important in their young lives. The conventions I attended as a teen helped make me who I am today.

We were on the go most of the time...the schedule was pretty full! We did enjoy an afternoon out at Downtown Disney. We had dinner at Planet Hollywood...pretty cool!!

Those attending from Chapel Pike were Payge Lewton, Nathan Lewton, Krista Wilson, Jessica Holland, Wesley Holland, Kaylee VanNess, Tyler Nelson, Jordan Nelson, Crystal Smith, Terry Beal and Lauren Sonnefield...Adult sponsors were Kent and Angie Santee, Anna Huey, Christy Parandi and Tera Beal (woo hoo!! Christy and Tera drove the teens down and back!!)

Welp, that's the report from Setapart...what a great group we had working for the Lord in sunny Florida!! :)

Christmas 2007

Christmas came and went rather quickly at the Holland House! We woke up on Christmas morning, opened gifts, enjoyed Christmas lunch then headed on the wide open road to Orlando, Florida. With much anticipation of our Florida trip it seems to me that Christmas day just wasn't the same. Don't get me wrong, I truly enjoyed our Christmas this year...it was just different than all the other Christmases I've celebrated.

Ahhh...Snow Days!

I admit it...I LOVE SNOW DAYS!! I tend to be a bit of a "homebody". So when we have weather like this I don't have to feel guilty about staying home. As long as there is food in the pantry and diapers for Joseph...I'm set!!! I know there are those of you out there that HATE winter. I guess I must apologize for being so excited in your misery. I've lived in Indiana my whole life and I know with Indiana winters comes Indiana snow! I can't change that...so...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!! Welp, all that being said...time to go out and enjoy. Anna and I are off to play in the white winter wonderland! ~Jaye~

The End of Another Kind of Season

This weekend brought the end of another kind of season at our house....the Holland Birthday Season!! I am reminded that God does have a sense of humor. At least it seems that way when He planned the birth of our children!!

Wesley starts off the festivities with his 13th birthday on October 21st. He enjoyed a family dinner of his choice...t-bone steak. This had to have been the biggest, thickest steak I've ever seen!

Jessica's birthday is on November 16th. She turned 15 this year and hosted a "sleep" over with 8 of her closest friends!! Wow...that was a LOT of teenage girls in one space!!!

Joseph's 2nd birthday came on November 21st. He chose a quiet celebration with his family!!

Being 2 is hard work!!

Anna finishes up the birthday year on December 8th. She turned 7 this year. She also had a two day celebration by having her friends over on the 7th.

Then she opened our presents on her real b-day, the 8th.

Well, all done for another year! Now we can sit back, relax and focus on the most important birthday of all!!! I hope you all are enjoying this joyous season!! ~Jaye~

Seasons over

Well it's all over. What a disappointing season. Bears lose to the skins tonight 16-24. Augh.

Another Roof Job

This weekend I spent most of Saturday working on another roof. Anna brought home a school project...so we built a ginger bread house. It was so much fun. Anna is a girly girl and we don't often get to really connect on a lot of things. But this weekend it was all Daddy and his little girl. I had a blast. It was pretty cool being able to work on this with her. I know what your thinking but the project was for us to work on together and to be creative. So we did and we were. You'll notice the first picture is the little house that was sent home with Anna. She had a bag of candy, a cup of frosting and that little house.

Well, we decided to do a little addition. You can see we added a front door, a couple of windows, shutters, an overhang above the door, sugar plum light poles and a complete first floor. Anna was pretty proud of her little project when we were all done and I was proud of her creativity.

And yes, we have working lights! The light poles outside and one light inside.
